Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hanson are the creators of the popular book series “Chicken Soup for the Soul.” In 2000, they partnered with Les Hewlitt and wrote the book, “The Power of Focus. What the World’s Greatest Achievers know About the Secret to Financial Freedom and Success.”
The book focuses on ten strategies to help you achieve success. The first strategy deals with forming good habits and breaking bad habits. Their three-step plan to break a bad habit is simple but will get you taking direct action to eliminate your bad habit immediately.
The basic strategy is to:
- Write down the habit that is holding you back.
- Define your successful new habit
- Write three actions with a start date that you will take to jump start your new habit
Take a minute a think of a bad habit that you would like to break. Do you want to stop eating junk food? Get up off the couch and start exercising? Stop watching late night television? Stop spending money you could be saving?
Define what you can do to eliminate the bad habit and start taking action to develop a new habit.
