This New Year do yourself a favor and make one resolution. Make the resolution to throw away your scale.
The scale is the worst way to measure your worth! That’s right, I said worth and not weight. Many women and more and more men are letting a number on the scale dictate their worth. If the scale tells them they are not at their desirable weight, they feel like a failure and their whole day is ruined.
At the extreme level, they may even become depressed, anorexic or bulimic and impair their health and risk damage to their heart, muscles and bones.
Less extreme but equally damaging is the negative focus placed on how much you weigh.
- Do you live and die by the scale? Does your life revolve around the daily digital display?
- Do you constantly search for the next great diet to make you feel good? Are you falling for the latest cleanse, low calorie or elimination diet?
- Do you fall for the “Lose 20 pounds in the next six weeks” sales pitch?
- Are you constantly thinking about what you ate, what you will eat and when will you eat?
- Are you trying to live up to some unrealistic ideal?
- Are you wasting your life worrying about your weight and missing out on the good things in life?
Do not let how much you weigh control your life! The truth is we are all built differently, have different amounts of muscle in our bodies and require different amounts of food to be healthy. There is no one definition of beauty! Life is meant to be enjoyed. Your life is much, much more than your weight. Stop being a slave to the scale and start living
life.
It’s time to move from being chained to the scale to developing lifestyle habits that will support your health and enable you to do the lings that are meaningful in your life.

Who am I?
I am Jim Gallagher, the co-owner of Strength for Life, a personal training studio in Springfield, PA. Over the past 30 plus years, I have been helping people become their best selves by adopting a regular program of exercise.
At one time or another, I have worked in every segment of the fitness industry and have seen the good and bad. Unfortunately, many fitness centers exist only to line the pockets of their owners with money taken from members who do not show up. That why we developed our own studio, Strength for Life, to make sure that we focus on getting results for our
clients.
My mission is to help as many people as possible get in the best shape of their life so they can be the best version of themselves.
